Too many notifications about events that are not relevant to my area

I’m deleting the app because I’m receiving too many notifications about events that are miles away from me and won’t affect me - and there’s no way to ensure I’m getting relevant information near me. A car fire that’s 8 miles away from me is irrelevant and doesn’t justify a notification - I want to know if there’s an incident that could possibly affect my safety nearby, say within half a mile and if it’s violent. Other than that, these notifications just become another unnecessary distraction.
