I’ve written 6 emails. Not one reply from the developer. The issue is not resolved in any way. You can record a trail in the bike gpx app, but you cannot do anything with it. How do you save it to your routes. I’m using this on a samsung tablet. Also does the same thing in my Android. I’m always up to date. No one will respond to you .
I purchased the premium upgrade for the audible turn alarm. Took it out for my first ride and it did not work. I fiddled for an hour with notification, screen lock, and audio settings. Nothing worked.
I have been using BikeGPX for years to navigate my way through different neighborhoods. Buying the premium version is cheap and worth it. It’s not as clean a user interface as Ride Spot, but with BikeGPX I get alerts when it’s time to turn or if I get off my route. Ride Spot simply traces over your saved route with no feedback, so if you need to keep the display on the whole time sucking your battery. Both apps will record your ride if you want that. Importing GPX files into BikeGPX is simple. Just load it from the website, then use your phone app to take a picture of the QR code. I wouldn’t mind having BikeGPX auto-dim with just an icon showing, then turn back on when approaching a turn. (Ride Spot has auto-dim with the icon, but without feedback, this feature is useless when navigating.) Right now the BikeGPX relies on the phone settings to dim the display, but will continue to give audible alerts even when the screen is dark. I have to wake my phone while riding to see what’s coming up and that could be dangerous.
I bought the premium version of this app and used it successfully once. It was great. Now when I try to upload a gpx file, using any method, it gets corrupted In the transfer. When I try to run it on the app, it just crashes. I’ve tried importing from different sites—the problem is definitely BikeGPX and a developer who does not bother maintaining the website/app. As someone else pointed out, there is no customer support with the app, so it’s a non-functional waste of money.
Don’t be fooled by the minimal approach. If you are looking for an app that will let you load GPX tracks and navigate without fuss, this is it. I have tried a number of other apps and for me all, had serious problems: unreliable GPX uploads, complex menus, overcrowded screens or crashes while riding. What I love about this elegant little app is that it has only what you really need: a clear map with a red route indicator and just the data that you choose to display. Thanks to the clear map the screen is visible in broad daylight even in the (adjustable ) energy saving mode which dims the screen to about 50% after a minute. In this mode I am able to get more than 4 hours of uninterrupted use. This is way more than anything else I have tried. The only possible complaint that I can find is that the display font is a bit light/thin. While clean and elegant is not very legible in bright light conditions. Besides this minor issue that I hope one day the developer will look into, the rest of this well thought out app works just as it should.
