I’ve been using remote buddy for almost 10 years now- going strong! This is a great update. Having the phone remote function is perfect when you can’t use an IR remote. This definitely makes my Android mini a worthwhile media center. Keep up the great work!
There's 20 ratings but only 3 reviews for Remote Buddy. This is for what's billed to be a fairly powerful app that’s been around for at least 10 years. The lack of interest is because this is a complete pile of garbage. I tried it about 10 years ago. For the Google Remote. After a few days I trashed it. I just tried it again. For an iOS device. I’ll be trashing it after this review. It’s even worst under iOS than the remote. For me, Plex centric, neither are of much use as they can't do everything I need done (up, down, right, left, volume up, volume down, full screen on/off). Hardly a lengthy list to get working correctly. What's really frustrating is basic functionality required for video is missing. It’s a remote! Is it so difficult to look at a video app or a remote control and “learn” what functionality should be provided? I tried using it on both a white Google Remote and the iOS companion app. Apps I checked out were Plex, Audio and CD (for volume control), VLC, DVD Player, iCal (for toggling full screen: yes that’s where they put it, no there is no full screen toggle in the iCal app menu, no it doesn't work anyway) plus a few others rather quickly. No app worked entirely. The interface is frustrating.
… it used to be easier to control the volume. They changed something and now volume control is very convoluted.
Very good app. Works very well at controlling your Android just like a remote control. Also the screen sharing works great very little lag on a home network. Lots of apps it works with and very customizable. But if don't have remote buddy don't bother.
Works like a charm!
