My Whoop is not consistent when it’s recording my heart rate during work outs. It seems like it’s either reading super high or super low before it levels out to normal. A lot of money per month for this issue.
Where to start… I started with the Whoop 3.0 and liked it’s features and easy to use. Bought 18 month subscription and $200 in straps and batteries. 45 days later 4.0 comes out and is free and all gear I bought is obsolete! No notice. No refund. 1. Whoop also double dips. Charge $30/ month for service then sells our info “anonymously” for more profit!! Why so expensive then! 2. Constant hardware issues. Battery doesn’t fully charge Whoop and could not get a spare battery for 8+ months. Battery updates have come out with no resolve so proves there is a known issue. 3. Customer service is horrible and wants to just replace unit for every issue but only complimentary first time. Also takes time to respond but then wants to close ticket within 24 hours if you don’t respond asap. 4. If you are serious about using this to work out, real time data is important. In version 4.0 constant data sync issues. I wake up and takes 1-2 hours for info to update. How can I know where my body is at and plan my day/ workout with that? I’m paying for this info too at a premium. 5. App AI is confusing to navigate and overwhelming. Once you figure it out another update comes out and you start all over again. Bottom line, Whoop started off strong and great info for athletes. As of late it’s about profits and growing it’s wearables line but app and hardware have dropped wayside. I’m not renewing subscription and sad to see such a great source of info fail slowly.
After using a Polar H9 chest strap for several years while rowing, I’m familiar with my HR trends during zone-based workouts. When wearing Whoop on my wrist and Polar chest strap simultaneously, Whoop gives inaccurate readings 10-15bpm higher than my actual HR. There was no resolution with fit. HRV was likewise wildly inaccurate (most mornings telling me I’m near death at 14-18). Customer service for Whoop, in fact, is very poor, particularly for a group that prides itself on offering bespoke products. All exchanges are on an automated chat, which directs you to email, which is never returned.
Update: Whereas firmware updates used to be released monthly, for the first 2+ years of my membership, they are now released every 3-4 months. The dramatic decrease in firmware updates coupled with a focus on releasing new accessories is concerning. WHOOP 4.0 provides actionable insights that aids profoundly in dialing in my sleep and overall wellness. I find the sleep staging to be the most accurate of any wearable that I’ve tested. As they incorporate insights from their acquisition of PUSH via updates to their algorithms & firmware, I’m excited to see improvements in the way WHOOP tracks anaerobic activities such as weight training.
Over a week with the app crashing. It will not open. It would be nice to have access to what I pay monthly for!
