  • Not even close

We took pictures of an orange/red shirt and it said it was in the teal family. A dark pink shirt was linen. This was outside with very minor shade, but no way the colors should have been that far off.

  • Not right

I am colorblind, red green if that matters. I thought this app would help me pick colors, sometimes it’s works but other times it doesn’t. What I mean is, I was testing it in both modes (simple and precise) on something that I know 100% is blue because that what I’m told. I can visibly see the color change on the screen, not sure if it adds a filter, but it turns it to what it calls charcoal gray. Honestly really confused how it reads blue for a second and then the color of my shirt changes right before my eyes to a gray on my phone screen, with or without a flash.

  • Not screenreader compatible.

It works better than other apps I use. My main complaints would be that, when searching a photo, there isn't a Sample option, meaning if there are similar colors that share a few of the same color pixels, it's harder to tell what the difference between them is. The sample size also cant be adjusted in camera mode, which isn't really a problem because adjusting it isn't a common feature to have. And my biggest issue is that it doesn't really work with Google's screenreader, VoiceOver. I can set VoiceOver to use screen recognition, but it will continuously read all of the changes in color code and text without interrupt (meaning it just adds everything it detects to a long line of text to read whether it disappears or not), and there isn't an option to turn off the color codes to shorten the long string of changes it will already detect. Without screen recognition on, VoiceOver will only read the text whenever I manually tap on it, so if the color family updates I would have no idea if I was looking for color changes. I know it isn't meant for blind people to use, but I'm near-sighted and have an eye condition which makes reading strain my eyes, and I'm going into a field where this would be useful because I have trouble differentiating colors sometimes. It works well, don't get me wrong. Other apps I've tried can't seem to say much other than "brown" or "gray" for colors that aren't that, but this app works just fine. It's just a struggle to use for my purposes. I would suggest it to someone else I know who struggles with color as well, but they only use a screen reader so this wouldn't be of any use to them. They're usually fine asking other people what color things are anyway. I'd also like to point out that VoiceOver can't navigate colors within photos at all, but I can't see how that would even work on a mobile device where the screenreader replaces touch gestures. The closest thing I could think of is if it was detected as a drag-and-drop, Whatever the case, it's not even remotely an issue. Just an observation.

  • Color not accurate

The colors were way off!! They did not match the fabric that I took a picture of.
