Warhammer 40,000 for Android

IMO a perfectly designed game. Combining the best of Warhammer, Magic the Gathering and chess with PVP, campaign and individual battles in Hunger Games-style arenas. The PVP and Hall of Sorrows modes are endlessly replayable - trying out different decks, squads and strategies. I’ve been playing for months and I’m still learning new things. Tough tradeoffs are everywhere: whether you’re focusing on damage, speed, amor, overwatch, stun, confusion, rage, blaze, indirect fire, or card removal, engaging and scrambling for the power ups or playing cat and mouse from range, concentrating fire on the enemy’s hero, or focusing on taking out his squad first - all are effective strategies. The best solution often depends on the situation, so be prepared to change your strategy on the fly since no battle plan survives contact with the enemy. Somehow they fit all of this complexity in a fast paced, easy to learn mobile game. I only paid $5.99 for one special squad member but I’ve defeated the highest ranked players in PVP - so the paywall isn’t a real barrier. It would be nice to have “Rematch?” button after a PVP game, so you could offer to battle again after an especially good match but that’s my only idea for improvement. If you like turn based strategy this is the game for you.

This game is fun although it’s hard to level up your other team members

First off it’s an amazing game with interesting mechanics in the spirit of war hammer. Just like any collectible card game (mtg) they make you pay for the cards you need to advance, late in the 4th stage. You can’t advance or complete in pvp without buying $50-$150 worth of cards n credits so consider that or just play thru till you hit the wall. Still fun. Deathwatch was better all tho all around.

Love the art style and storylines!

Ok so if you like turn based games this is way up there. I will say that I have only played for free and never made a single purchase. I have also started from scratch three times. Mainly because I had to delete the app because it was too addictive. The games can take a while but it makes sense why. Even a pvp game may take a half hour to maybe 45 mins. There is so much room for strategic nuanced trucks that I have had half the health and firepower and destroyed opponents and was very exciting. So why no 5 stars? Well the app glitches, bumps you out on many explosions, soso WiFi and sometimes just randomly ejects you out of a pvp game. This has been that way for 5+ years. (Yes it’s probably my favorite game despite its problems) I do wish the economics were better for non-payed players as it just takes forever to work up to a good (not great) character. But that is the economy of their profit making business. I understand but wish it were easier to get more coins and gold etc. cards are hard to come by and you need many to get a decent weapon. You may be paired up in pvp with much harder opponents but I guess they need to play too so there’s a lot to say but I’m reaching an end. If the bugs could be fixed, a little better economics for non paying members and more new levels, you would have a perfect game. Clearly for hard core board gaming strategists and story mode for beginners. Really good job here and can’t complain. Not for the gravel minded.
