WKRC WX for Android

So I try to watch John Gumm’s weather report and what’s this covering part of the screen? (this is on my Android by the way so not much screen) Closed caption for the hearing impaired. Guess I’d be glad if I were hearing impaired...BUT I AM NOT! I combed through the app to see if I could shut it off. NOPE! Nowhere to be found. So I close it out. Then thought maybe I should check again to see if it was a fluke. NOPE! This time it’s even worse. Looks like someone who has no idea where the proper keys are on the keyboard. Very annoying! Please! Please! Please! Give us an option to select out of closed caption. Let me decide if I want it or not. This was not there this morning when I watched the morning report. 2 stars because it needs to go. November 4, 2020 So I need to update this review. Thank you for removing the closed caption. But would someone please update the weather video in a timely manner. I wanted to watch the 5:30p weather update but what they had up was the noon report. It’s 11:00p so I’d like to see the 10:00 report. This is getting worse on this app. Plus Tera’s morning report is so short that if you blink you miss it completely. April 26,2021 Ok, so I am back. This weather app just seems to get worse and worse. Now Tera’s morning report is 30 seconds or less. At least the previous ones were close to 90 seconds. And all she does is give the temps and if it’s supposed to rain or not. And then the later weather reports have the meteorologist in tiny little boxes with what appears to be a spotlight on their faces that washes them out. They all sound like they are in tin cans. Come on! Get it together and just go back to showing a regular weather report. Whoever is responsible should be fired! Just don’t bring back the closed caption for everyone! STOP MESSING WITH THIS APP! It was great before! October 21, 2021 Stay tuned!! MAY 2022 The app is much better. Not sure what was done but it’s better. The one irritating issue is the commercials. You can’t rotate the screen until they are finished. Not a huge issue, just a little irritating.

App says it’s 76° and sunny...it’s in the mid 60’s and pouring buckets. Thought maybe the app needed updating. Did the update, still says 76° and sunny. What a joke.

I have used this app for some years now. Really like the content. I probably open this app 15-20 times each day. Sadly, the latest version (late January 2021) crosses my line of minimum acceptability, making it unbearable (for me). The new feature that just goes “too far” is a big banner of advertisement that appears a fraction of a second after the background of the home screen first appears. Then, nothing else appears for about 5-7 seconds, after which the app’s useful options appear. Essentially, I now have to wait an additional 5 seconds EVERY time I open the app, during which period, the ONLY thing I see is an advertisement. My time’s too valuable. Bye bye, app. Going elsewhere. Too bad.

01/31/21 Why would not you have widget for your app? It would be so convenient and useful. Please consider it. 05/25/19 - I just have to write the review for the app and give it 5 stars. Did you change the developers? After latest update (May 25), the app is like brand new, all redone. No more problems with changing from portrait mode to landscape mode, the past-future play is so convenient... thank you. Good job indeed. Hopefully the same developers will redo news app for local 12. That one is still not very good, works only in portrait mode and buggy.

The app isn’t horrible, a little bit slow but not bad. It used to not have any ads before you watched the 3 minute weather, why is there ads for such a short video. I have seen along time ago they would mess up the editing of the videos and sometimes it wouldn’t be weather, but now ads before a 3 minute video. I’ll stay with the garbage weather app on my I phone.
