Immediately not interested when it appears to just be a money grab. The very first page after you sign up for an account requires you to purchase a subscription in order to even see what the app is about. In addition to that, they have a “Best Value” next to the $9.99/week subscription (which equates to almost $520/yr) whereas the other option is an annual subscription for $69. If they interpret $520/yr as Best Value over the $69 subscription, I’m inclined to believe their interpretations of the Bible won’t be any better lol.
They have a draconian refund policy. If you don’t keep your subscription for a minimum amount of time they say they will not fully refund you.
As someone who grew up in a Christian church going household, I know the tenants of the Bible and Christianity very well. But I had lost interest in faith over the years. I am at a point in my life where I need something solid as my foundation in life. For too long it has been sex, success at work, alcohol, tobacco and any other temporary pleasure. I am 62 so still have plenty of healthy life ahead of me but I want something more and this is opening the door for that. I look forward to each days lesson and study it carefully.
I don’t understand why you must make an account once the app is downloaded, followed by 5 slide introduction (not helpful or informative) just to send you to a paywall. You get two options: $10/wk or $70/year. The hilarious thing is it tell you the weekly option is the best value. Let’s see… 52 weeks in a year X $10 is $520. And the yearly is $70? That’s terribly misleading. My other gripe is not getting any preview, layout, or understanding of the app (other than a several slide presentation that isn’t helpful at all) before making the commitment of paying for a subscription. How is there not a trial week? Or a “lite” version that lets you see the most basic functions of the app and grey out the “premium” (paid for) options. There’s got to be some workaround. It saddens me because I’d like to try the app and I’m sure there are some great redeeming qualities but I won’t pay a dime for something I have no idea if I would like or not.
I think this is a good start to get someone back on track and their daily devotionals. However, the app is not synced to the website. The app shows me starting, whereas on the website I’ve gone through quite a few devotionals and those can’t be found anywhere on the app. Also when going through the thoughts and discussion portion, it would be nice to either go back and read what we have previously typed or even be able to make edits if we accidentally press submit before completing.
