This game had a lot of potential, but despite much playing time, had great difficulty enjoying. The game shifts around so much, that it becomes nauseating. Really. The game makes you watch every player’s decision - no skip, though the game pauses when you switch to another tab to pass the time momentarily. The AI often make illogical decicions, which proved frustrating. For example, in one game scenario I played, Russia controlled the majority of the map - Spain (me), Italy, Britain, Turkey and Norway, being the sole survivors. Rather than concentrating their efforts against the impending Russian assault, all of them concentrated their full efforts on ME! While being simaltaneously destroyed by Russia. You’re probably better off just playing the board game Risk with a friend. Much easier and enjoyable.
Well worth $2.99, one of the most addictive games I've ever played. Only problem is that when you play Bulgaria, China will attack from the south in Turkey and they will cheat. They attack while under the fortress card which you're not supposed to be able to do and China's artillery moves into your position after a battle when their not supposed to. Because of this it's virtually impossible to win the game with Bulgaria while on the maximum difficulty level. One other thing is that the English and description could be better for first time users. Other than that, the game is phenomenal!
This could have been a good game. The key flaw is the lack of instructions. There are symbols in the game, such as an E next to some units, that I cannot decipter. The only instructions are the tutorials which only tell one how to move and what most of the available cards can do. There are no other instructions in the game or online at the website. During the game I could not figure out why my points for purchasing war materials etc kept declining on each turn even though I was buying construction spots and I had not lost any spaces owned by me. I could not find out why the Spanish were fighting the Nazis or other weirdisms contained in the game. The worst was at the start of the 1941 scenario the English have no navy. Zero ships. Not many troops either. Odd considering the size of the English fleet in 1941 and the troops of the Commonweath available to the UK. The game itself is rather too basic. In war, speed of movement and terrain are critical. This game takes neither into account. I would expect armored units to outpace infantry units; however, they do not. Everything moves at one space per turn. I would also expect certain terrain features to increase the defensive power of a unit. Nope. All tarrain features are the same in defense or the attack. Units can become ships and then these units can land anywhere a land space is next to an ocean space. This is just dumb. Landing a force in Scotland isn't going to be as simple as landing in the south of England. Advancing through Greece and the Balkins is going to be much different than advancing across the plains of France. The spaces the units move over are more like provinces than a space normally used in a board game. The regions being moved across are all treated the same. An area of mystification is why two of your own units cannot be moved onto the same space. This means units, including ships, cannot move through a space occupied by your own units. Thus, a unit fighting for its life and losing points cannot have your own unit move onto that space to reinforce it. Also, when buying war materials, you cannot put the war materials just anywhere your units or cities occupy. In a few instances I was limited to putting my artillery into one place even though I had a lot of artillery units around the board. The worst part, as stated above, is the lack of instructions to explain the symbols on the units and the board. It would also be nice to know who your allies are and what you can do for one another. The maker of the game must understand that what seems intutive to them may not be to others. AD2
I was able to get used to the game after one play through, it's well worth the $3 I spent on it. There are only two complaints that I have, 1) There needs to be a multiplayer, that would make it so much funner if I could play this game with my brother or friends. 2) Let us play as some more countries like Finland.
