Loved this game on xbox and decided to buy it on my Android, and have uninstalled it and reinstalled it 10 times easily because the moment I click play in the launcher, I get black screened and told that an unexpected error has occured. I've tried everything from reseting my Android all the way to trying to find a way to get it to work from online forums. Extremely disappointed and this game recieves no updates from its developers and I wish I could get this garbage to work.
If you enjoy the world-building and design aesthetics of Star Wars, and if you also love Dungeons & Dragons game mechanics (more or less 3rd edition like Neverwinter Nights), then this game will make you drool. KOTOR is part of an evolutionary line of D&D crpg from Bioware (originally): Baldur's Gate captured Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st & 2nd editions, with isometric 3D; and later on, Neverwinter NIghts did D&D 3rd edition with 1st person 3D like an MMORPG. The graphics and design of Baldur's Gate with its isometric design was charming and nifty, but the graphics of Neverwinter Nights, though practical, are not as cool - however, KOTOR is where the 1st person 3D was developed into something extremely beautiful with the aid of the Star Wars universe.
This game used to work and I loved playing it. Sadly, since a recent Android update, it is no longer playable since your character freezes after every single combat that occurs, and makes the game COMPLETELY unplayable. I have reached out to the developer and still have not got an answer. I hope it is fixed soon since it is my favorite game (along with the second one)
What's Broken? - Everything looks squished because the screen resolution only allows for a 4:3 aspect ratio, and then it just stretches that image into a widescreen 16:9 ratio. Things that are supposed to be squares are stretched into rectangles, the character looks squished, the building and objects look squished. KOTOR 2 allows for 16:9 aspect ratios; this was ported by the same devs, so what happened here? - No windowed support. Theoretically you can fix the aspect ratio issue by running it in windowed mode and using a custom size but, that's not an option here. - Characters get stuck constantly after combat, as in you cannot move at all. You have to open and close menus, switch characters several times and *hopefully* the character gets unstuck. - The mouse cursor disappears randomly and doesn't come back. I only got about an hour into this before I couldn't continue. Wild, because I just finished KOTOR 2 and that was a seamless, polished experience.
On modern monitors the aspect ratios are not supported in the game and there is no option to run the game in windowed mode. After reaching out to support I was told to try to mod the game or search for 3rd party mods to put it in windowed mode. This should be stated up front and very clearly and is not. Waste of money
