I have been a paying subscriber to the NYT for years and have always been satisfied. In the past two months the crossword app has become extremely buggy and apparently the NYT could not care less based on the lack of a response to the many complaints posted here. The stats have completely stopped working and I am constantly having to re-login in order for the app to recognize my subscription. If these issues aren’t fixed soon, or at the very least acknowledged by the NYT, I will cancel my subscription and move on to one of the many other quality crossword providers.
Whether it was the Mobile keyboard bug from a few months ago, the crashing upon open that’s been going on for weeks, or the latest - locked puzzles and failures to record the current time in stats - this app really needs better quality control. Updates should improve the experience, not degrade it. DEVS: Instead of a stock response, win goodwill by acknowledging the problem, apologizing for it, and letting us know you care. ^ customer service 101^
When will the personal daily “this week” stats be fixed? Currently they do not show up next to Average and Best solve times.
Stats have been broken for a long time now (weeks if not a month or more). The day’s time does not display in the week graph. I know it’s been mentioned in comments to the games and in reviews of the app, but nothing’s been fixed.
This is my favorite game app. But every so often it does something annoying. The latest is in the Spelling Bee section. I love Spelling Bee, but now NYT has added an ad at the bottom trying to get you to give a Spelling Bee gift to a friend. It is really irritating, and it pops back up EVERY TIME you go to play. Enough already! It is beginning to look like one of those click bait games. The NYT is better than that. Get some class, NYT!
