I’m in week 4 as I write this. My goal is a 40 percent reduction from the 25 cigarettes I used to smoke. I paid for the 3 month subscription, the cost of which has already paid for itself because I’m spending less on cigarettes. I hope to be smoke free by 18 weeks. I chose this app because it spaces out smoke breaks gradually and I find this method much easier to tolerate than cold turkey. The hardest time of day is mornings (coffee/cig). I’m learning to change my routine, but I still get restless while waiting for the next notification that it’s okay to smoke now. It’s easy to use and easy to see your progress. I feel hopeful about quitting this time. Edit: I’m now in week 10 and down to 6 cigs per day which is 2:49 hours between smokes. It has become increasingly difficult but expected. One thing I noticed is that this app expects you to sleep 8 hours a day. If you sleep less, but follow the time limits, you will exceed the daily limit. Because of this, I have not met the weekly goal, but have continued to progress through the program. At any rate, I’m still happy to have this app. I have saved much more than it’s cost by not buying cigarettes and I’m not coughing and hacking any more.
This app has been a tremendous help to me in my 6th attempt to quit smoking! I had tried gum, patches, hypnosis, using my phone to time my cigarettes, keeping a diary and then the patch again. I would cut down for awhile, but, gradually I would return to my pack and a half habit. I did go to a lower nicotine level cigarette, moving from Newport Menthols to Pyramid Lights, but I still kept smoking just as often. Then, I tried Alive. I love the way it assesses your level of smoking and what time of day you smoke the most. Then, I started out with “permission” to cut back just 2%. In phase 2, I am cutting back at least 17%! I have noticed that, since I have a good reason AND a strong desire to quit, in phase 1, I cut back much more than suggested. Phase 2, found me smoking as often as I could, and even using another feature: having the option of smoking early if you must, and then getting right back on schedule again. After a few days, I had adjusted, and now I am able to stick to the schedule again! The program tracks and displays both the number of cigarettes you haven’t smoked compared to the number you would have smoked if you hadn’t begun the program and how much money you’ve saved. Put it all together and you have a great motivating app and a really great way to quit smoking, if you are want to quit, even a little bit! It really WORKS! I guess you noticed that I haven’t completed the whole program, but I’m POSITIVE that I will. If not, I’ll write a second review and let you know what happened, but I doubt you will see that happen! Try it! I’m using the free version of the app, and I’m doing FINE, but there is a paid version if you feel you need more support. If I run into any trouble, I will move to the paid version. As you know by now, I highly recommend this app!!!
I accidentally deleted his app. It’s a free app with option to subscribe but it wont let me reinstall because my payment card is NSF. It wont let me start from scratch to reinstall.
