The quiz was helpful but the app gives you nothing after that. It might help if you’re a total beginner but if you have a fair amount of nutritional knowledge it’s useless.
Even after I take the My Plate Quiz I never get a code. I changed in settings the frequency of notifications but Quiz prompt still pops up.
I wanted an app to track food groups. This app doesnt track anything. Complete bummer !
I was looking for an app to help me with managing my healthier choices, especially related to food. This app is so elementary and isn’t functional at all.
I think the app is good for children or anyone new to eating healthier. And the simple goals being limited would help other all or nothing people like myself. I also like how it helps track by food group. At the moment I’m personally more concerned about learning intuitive healthy eating practices than being a specific weight. I’m using the general Mediterranean diet guidelines for food choices and not worrying about calories. So if this is similar to your goal then the app might help you. I do agree with other commentators that it’s lacking accountability. I don’t know how to best fix that. I’m relatively good at keeping myself accountable and it’s the motivation/reward side I need help with. This app adds enough to keep me relatively motivated through methods like checking off goals met and awarding badges for consistency. I also think a few additions would make this app truly amazing. Things like… -Place to save favorite recipes -Meal planning section -Grocery list generated by the meal plan section -The ability to invite “friends” -Allowing “friends” to compete based on each individuals goals like Google fitness -partnering with someone like MFP or adding a way to track foods eaten and servings -more usage of the features already on MyPlate.gov website without having to leave the app That being said I know it costs a decent amount of money to implement app features. And as a former legislative auditor governments don’t have unlimited spending like people think. So I’m honestly just so happy that this is a priority on a big scale and that it’s accessible(free). And to see it grow and adjust over time shows this department cares about our health.
