Snowflake Weather for Android

I really like this app. It’s hard to find a privacy focused weather app, and when I do they usually charge way too much for features I don’t care about. Glad this app sticks to the basics.

Well this app has very detailed information about the current weather, and does allow you to change the location, it does not include a display of radar. In order to see that you must pay an extra fee. Many other weather apps include radar at no cost, including those apps like weather underground that are a free download.

It combines the top 2 or 3 features from each of my other weather apps. Quickly became the one I use daily.

The program looks great and the amount of details in the settings show how much effort went into creating this app. However, it failed in the basic area of usability (without a subscription). It is advertised as having 4 sources .. but the description didn’t state that only 1 is “usable”. Whenever I try to choose a source (other than automatic) I am only given the option to subscribe (first). I understand the need of a subscription for the maps and data requests, but to be locked into an automatic choice when I want to choose a meteorological service for “basic service” is not working as advertised. Still, the program looks very well put together and comprehensive. However it fails to give me weather from the source that I needed (without a subscription) and is therefore not unusable for me.

Good app with clean design that is information dense without being overwhelming. Main thing I’d like to see is more frames/smoother radar playback and the weather widgets need to have an option to independently select a location from your locations list. I travel a lot and with iOS 15 I make home screens based on travel and I like to have home screens with custom focus modes for different locations so I can see what the weather is like before I get to that location. I have other travel widgets set for each screen such as rentals, airlines, hotels so having the widget for that city setup would be great and should be fairly easy for you to implement. Thanks!
