This is the best music app I have ever purchased. You must take your time to learn this app. I highly suggest watching the YouTube series to get some understanding of what you are amount to jump in to. The app has a nice layout and provides a great combination of theory and practice. I have learned so much from it for the past year and am still learning more.
I purchased the full Android and Android versions of this a couple of years ago, and they've been helpful... except not nearly as much as they could be. The Android version unfortunately will not render note values except quarter notes, which severely limits its utility for practicing, and this Android version has constant annoying bugs. Most of all, the sections of the Preference panel for choosing patterns, approaches/escapes/enclosures, and rhythms constantly disappear. I have to quit the app and reload (which annoyingly resets some of my preferences like note range every time) to get it back, and lately those panel sections will disappear again as soon as I resize the window or do basically anything else. This is frustrating, because at the core of the app is an amazing resource. But I will not even consider MDeck's Mapping Tonal Harmony app until they show that I'm not basically just throwing money away again. Just fix this app, please.
What happened to playing substructures. Or the update? It would be nice to click on a substructure and hear it.
Y’all spelled flipped “filpped” in the preferences
I bought this to help speed up decisions while I compose, as I am fairly new to theory. The problem I tend to have is remembering what the harmonic avoid notes are for each scale, and this has helped immensely. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to find things. You can do it the way they suggest, which is by interval, or if you already know the scale you can just type it in the search bar. I’ll admit if I can’t get to something within the first 5 minutes of using it I don’t generally like that piece of software. There are a great many scales here, and much more than that. For this price it’s a steal. Particularly when you consider notation software and DAWs all cost significantly more. If you’re willing to pay for sheet music, but are unwilling to pay this much for what this does you won’t be happy with anything and are probably a miserable person. Thanks for creating this amazing piece of software.
