Just downloaded the free app and it was pretty easy. I did watch the tutorial and it was helpful. Wish I could attach my first photo from the ballooonfest yesterday. I have bigger ideas now for an anniversary gift.
I just wrote a review for the full version of the app, and that shows how satisfied I was with the app. However, I first downloaded this light version before committing the $10 for buying the full app. There aren’t a lot of differences between the light and the full versions, as far as I can tell. The light version supports lower resolution outputs (3000x3000 vs. 4500x4500 pixels), it puts a fairly large TurboMosaic logo on the exported mosaics, and it only supports rectangular tiles. There may be other small differences but I didn’t notice them. Since the point of these mosaics is to be able to see the small tiles when you look at them really closely, you will want to go as high resolution as possible. That’s why I would definitely recommend the full version. I printed my full resolution mosaic, generated by the full version of the app in 24”x24” and the end result looked great, with all the small tiles nicely visible. I don’t think the lite version would have had quite the right quality for such a large print. If you are concerned about the price of the full app, I can put it in perspective: the full app costs $10, while the print at Kinko’s cost $50, but you have to buy the app only once, while every print will cost you more money. So the app is actually really cheap compared to everything else you need to do to have large mosaic prints.
