Why does my dryer need my precise location?

I want to have my dryer beep me when it’s finished with a load, and to see how much electricity it uses - these are advertised features and part of the reason I bought the dryer. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but whenever I try to add my new washer or dryer, the app won’t let me do anything unless I tell it exactly where I am. I really can’t imagine what purpose it would serve to have my dryer know exactly where I am at all times. And even if there was some function related to location (like maybe my dryer could warn me if I get too close to the lake and remind me not to fall in), then the app should only request my precise location if I selected that feature.

I installed 2 mini splits … one is fine. The other requires a reset from the electrical panel in order for it to be on Wi-Fi and “seen” on the app. Once it is on Wi-Fi, it’s only as long as the power is on.. once you shut off the power, the unit will not hook back up to Wi-Fi without an electrical panel reset. It is absolutely infuriating,
