Movie Clips Free's trim function is as crude as it gets, with no way to adjust precisely where you want the trim points. All you can do is draw a rectangle, with the left side being the left trim point and the same for the right. If you try to adjust the trim points from there, you'll find that your trim points are gone and you're simply drawing another rectangle. There is no way to preview your trims, so you can only hope that anything is actually happening. There is also no help system at all. But all this is moot, because when I tried (hopefully) trimming some videos and exporting them, the saved files were zero bytes, and could not be opened when tried with four different video apps.
for some reason, it won’t work!! I downloaded it but when I click on the icon it just jumps up and down and is frozen!!! This is super annoying
This does not actually scale, crop, or trim videos. Rather, it performs these operations virtually. The "exported" video file is just a filter applied to the original. You cannot even rename or move that, much less delete it. The main use for an app that purports to have these features is genuine video editing, to get rid of stuff you don’t need to keep, either useless footage, or to zoom in on what was recorded and dispens with unnecessary background material. You just can’t do any of that with this program except temporarily. The files produced by this app do not even consistently work. I can get about 1 out of 4 of them to be usable in any other app. My idea was to use this to temporarily generate the effect desired, then run that through a converter to save a permanent copy. Nope. Even VLC will only play the output of these things about 1/4 of the time, and one that it will play it won’t play consistently (i.e. if you reopen the same Movie Clips Free output again, it mostly won’t work). Furthermore, it doesn’t recognize even the most common video formats. The only thing I’ve gotten it to kinda-work with at all is MP4.
You can open any video, trim it, crop it, slow down, speed up, add audio, then save it as .mp4 container (without large “.mov”). BE AWERE: you can export video as 720p only! If you work with large 1080p, then it will be resized to 1280x720. When the app asks you to update to the full version, just click “cancel” and it will function normaly.
As soon as you load a video it asks you to upgrade to the full version, so you cannot do anything with this ‘FREE’ app. Lame
