Was ready to subscribe to this app because I like the maps but the tides where I am in Florida are totally wrong. When checking them against the tide stations themselves, the heights and times are totally off. This makes the indicators on the maps wrong and the current indicators very suspect. How could I trust anything else in the app?
App used to be great. While I’m not a fan of subscriptions, this one was always worth it. Recently they have replaced their most affordable coverage with a new subscription that is just crazy. 24.99 for a yearly subscription is where I decide that the features are no longer worth it.
I bought this app from Navionics back when they sold regional apps. Later they got “seller’s remorse” and decided that they didn’t make enough money off of those of us that purchased their product, so they discontinued it and went to a yearly subscription. I opened my app to use it only to find that I needed to pay to use it AGAIN! Every other app developer grandfathers their current customers who helped support them. Not Navionics! Make sure you know that at any time Navionics may decide that they want to make more money off of you and when they do, they’ll simply stop providing what you paid for and demand more money to use the product you already bought. Buyer beware!!! Note the response from Navionics. I can re-download the app I already bought. They replaced my purchased app with the subscription app hoping I’d just roll over and pay again! Deal with this unscrupulous amoral company at your own risk.
Previous versions worked quite well. Not perfect but route planning ETA and fuel use were accurate. Latest version always uses approx 1 knot for speed and 1 gal/hr go fuel. Same on phone or Mobile. Useless now for anything other than seeing position on chart.
Need reliability for navigation! Latest updates crashed the app. Could not use Navionics to navigate as it constantly hangs up in opening screen.
