As you set up Dumbify, which does take 20 minutes or so, you have the chance to really marvel at how creative the developer has been in coopting features Google has created to make the phone busier and more engrossing to instead simplify it and clean it. It’s creative, a little transgressive, and it works. The use of Shortcuts is less hacky than many of these reviews make it seem. The experience is good, and very supportive of reduced distraction in one’s smartphone use. I combine it with OneSec to support mindful use of key apps. I hope to see Dumbify continue to grow, and want to support anything that helps Google understand how much many of us wish our phones could be inert tools waiting patiently to serve rather than black holes of engrossing distraction.
Jumping with shortcuts is a pretty unenjoyable experience. App is well designed and i understand the constrains the developer is working with are Google related but fair warning to those before you buy for $5 to know every click will be a shortcut
Well thought out only issue is I can’t get rid of the bottom bar despite following the directions a few times. In the end, without Google support it makes the phone harder to use which is too bad.
Simplify. App has great potential. People are fed up with *SAD☹️ Smartphone Affected Disorder *Nuh Keller
Redirects to the Shortcuts app, and can’t find the shortcut it’s looking for. Not worth $4.99, wouldn’t download it if it was free.
