Regardless of what features an editor has, the basic functions should be to save and recall. I suppose importing a Word document would be nice too. Most of this is lacking. I think the manual says you can do these things, however since their manal only has a table of contents with these subject headers and is otherwise empty (except for some garbage about importing html stuff) I have to assume it suppossed to do these things but doesn't.
I enjoyed using this app to type my first letter this morning, March 20th. The one big thing I would like to see as an improvement is that when you get to the bottom of the window, it scrolls up so you can see the next lines of text as you type. This is something that needs to be addressed in the next update. I like the ability to format on the fly, bold, italic, etc. this is a good app, but it's not the best out there yet. But it's not too far off.
From the description I thought the app would work for me, but I didn't. I was unable to paste new text into a document I had created, or work on it once saved. (The app saved files as archives.) When I tried pasting new text into a document the app crashed every time.
This app's claims about it's sharing ability are extremely misleading. Files CAN be imported into it's "archive" via iTunes, as claimed, but once there, the app would not open anything I tapped on. It was as if it didn't recognize the USB shared files as actually having been installed, despite the fact that it dutifully listed every last name. In order to get any of my pre-existing text into the editing workspace, I had to cut and paste from another Mobile WP program (DocsToGo, in this case). The app then saved my test-edited Word RTF file as HTML--no options for any other format--and tucked it away in it's "archive" as a zip file which then had to be either emailed to myself or dragged onto my desktop via iTunes and extracted, then converted BACK into RTF by Open Office in order for it to be editable on my PC, because my (admittedly ancient) version of Word would not open the saved HTML with usuable formatting--in short, a really clumsy and unnecessarily-complicated way to get files in an out of the app, when a simple "Save As" and decent choice of output formats would have done the job nicely. Unless you're inclined to use cloud services (and other reviews would suggest that feature doesn't work too well, either), this app is useless to anyone like me who is looking for an Mobile WP to work in tandem--and with minimal hassle--with desktop software. There were other functionality issues, too, such as the fact that there was no readily-obvious way to close a file once you were through editing it (I had to call up a blank document to boot my test doc out of the workspace so it would actually show up as saved in the apps iTunes file sharing list). The help file was online only, and covered only the most basic things, in little depth. Granted, most of the app's buttons were easy enough to figure out, but the lack of step-by-step procedure for the things that WEREN'T so obvious was aggravating, especially considering how little trouble other WPs I've tried have had getting these basic ideas right. I'm still willing to give this app a chance to improve, because I like the clean, simple design of the work-space, but unless they can fix things to where you can get your work into (and out of) that space easily and efficiently, this app will be following the money I will clearly have wasted on it right into the trash can.
Stupid me. I hope this review helps someone else.
