I used five coins to test the accuracy of this app: 1. 505-480BC 1 Siglos from the Achaemenidian Empire I did not have high hopes for this coin because it is both ancient and fairly rare. But it identified as a U.S. 25 cents Mt. Rushmore silver proof. This is so far off that it’s absurd. 2. 1885 Morgan Dollar This is the only coin the app correctly identified. It is a MS 64+ so I expected it to correctly identify it. Though the apps display of a valuation is false advertising (unless this is a paid feature. 3. 1808 Half Cent This coin was incorrectly identified as a 10 cent Roosevelt silver proof. The coin is worn so it is hard to identify without proper lighting. Nonetheless, the identification of the coin as a silver proof is ridiculous as the coin is completely brown and doesn’t look toned. 4. 1975 Singaporean 10 Dollar This coin was incorrectly identified as a 1 dollar Robert F. Kennedy. Given that this coin is also solve it is more understandable. But it is still very far off. 5. 1997 One Cent This coin was misidentified as a 1 dollar Native American series. The coin isn’t in the best condition. But being so far off on a modern coin is inexcusable. In addition to misidentifications another flaw I noticed is that the app (in some instances) refers to the coins as species. This shows that this app is a copy of the rock and plant versions and is reflective of the companies laziness. All-in-all this app is extremely flawed and it cannot be recommended for even basic numismatic purposes. A basic book or even a google search would be more efficient.
My son received books and bags of old coins from an old collector that had passed away, so I thought this would be the perfect solution to figure out what they were/are. First three coins and all three were wrong, what a waste of money! But at least you have to pay up front and lose $30 to find out. Don’t waste your money on this app, get a book
