I have been trying to download for hours. Att and Viasat both seem to be preventing. That can’t be legal. What do I do now?
Starlink was amazing for the first month or two reaching speeds between 100-200 mbps. After that time my speeds have been significantly decreasing and never reach anything above 30-32 mbps with my speeds mainly sitting between 5-10 mbps. I am grateful but also disappointed because I am still confused at what changed. All the responses I get from support are general answers with no explanation why my speeds never reach what they were. Something is wrong with my internet but nobody will help fix it.
I have been testing out the Starlink service in not-rural FL and so far, this service is a mixed bag. The download speeds have been ok (50 Mb - 140 Mb) but the promised low latency is not existent. My average latency is around 80ms sometimes going as far as the low 100s. The upload speeds are also not very good (around 8 Mbs). It seems that Starlink is really being built for rural use and where they consider there being more HSI options, the service lags. This makes sense but they should inform buyers that this is the case. Also, the app is pitiful with bad design, engineering, and UX. Did you know the service can only be controlled by one device?
Garbage promises, garbage customer service (literally is non existent), garbage app, garbage CEO, garbage company owner. They will “hold” your money for a place in line to receive a product that will be delayed indefinitely. What they’re essentially doing is using your money for capital and provide you with no returns. Promises that bear no fruits. Don’t waste your time or money in the hype.
I could not run the visibility checker as it asks for a setting under Privacy which my Android XS doesn’t have. It is the System Services > Compass Calibration feature. Searching for this problem, I found references to a requirement for Android 13. IOS is up to date so it’s not clear why it fails.
