I’ve been using Art Set for a couple of years now, but I also use Procreate. The technology and design behund Art Set is unique in that it captures the texture of paint in digital form, but it has its limitations. What I usually do is create a painting in Art Set aat the maximum size canvas possible, which is 7014x7014px. Then I import it into Procreate and add layers of more art that isn’t paint textured. The limitation of Art Set is that if you create a detailed art piece at this resolution, you’ll only get so far and the app will crash, not open, not save your work, or anything. All your work will be lost. I had to delete the app completely and redownload as new in order to start painting anew. So if you want to produce art in a large size canvas, you have to paint one segment at a time and save each one as inidividual jpegs. Then import each into Procreate and build the final image there. Also, to get a transparent background in the final result, you have to save as PNG.

Hey, what do I know…anyway, I’ve downloaded most, if not all of the drawing/painting apps for my Mobile/Pencil combination. In summary, ArtSet is the only one of them all, that when giving it a first try, just got out of the way and let my mind connect with it…It just ended up making me smile at how much fun and ease it it was at first… when I needed it to become powerful and deliver some complex effects, they just happened. Easily. It’s the most intuitive app out there to my mind by far. The others, I’m sure are fantastic… but when I tried them out, I just ended up staring at the tools, and after a few minutes, meh. Now, my art is totally in lockstep with this app, and I dread the day it may not be updated and working with future generations of iPads, etc as can be the case with small, brilliant developers like lopofi. But, that’s true of any medium more complex then a box of crayons…. My recommendation? Along with all of the others, try this app too, and don’t be surprised if you fall in love it hit. QUICKLY. Lately I’ve noticed that the eye dropper is always slightly off. The colors end up more desaturated. It’s not a trick of the eye. I can zoom in really far and draw directly on the area i eye-dropped and it is incorrect. Please fix it soon! Thank you
