PenCake - simple notes, diary for Android

if you write poems but don't always feel like turning on your computer or digging for a notebook, especially if you’re in bed or on your lunch break or even in the bathroom, this app is the easiest way to write or revise on poems. Very easy to change font size to make various line lengths work. there aren’t a lot of options to mess with indents, spacing, or alignment — unfortunately — but for early drafts this is perfectly serviceable *I’m sure one of those word processor apps & attaching a keyboard would be the “best” way to write poems on a phone, but at that point it defeats the point of the phone’s convenience”

I downloaded the app recently, and this is the most relief i've felt in so long. I've been looking for a note-taking / journaling app for months that actually makes me want to use it; pleasing to the eye, simple and elegant-ish format, and easy to use. This is everything I want it to be, and the layout of having different "stories" with articles under each, and then each story having its own page that can be easily reached by swiping, it's literally a dream. I have nothing but praise for it. The design, format, and concept, it all gives me such a calming feeling and doesn't create any of the anxiety and pressure i've felt trying to use other notes or journaling apps. I don't know if what I'm trying to express comes through the way I want it, because reading this again it sounds overdramatic, but i'm just so grateful i've found an app that doesn't make me feel obligated or overwhelmed. I've never ever found one that I've been able to stand for longer than a week. Whatever. This app is great. Good job!!

Another misleading app that seems free. The only thing you can do on the free version is add a title and a subtitle to a story! Anything further, you must pay. Pass!

I love this app it’s so simple yet elegant. Plus unlike a lot of other apps the free mode is actually pretty great!

One of my favorite apps, and arguably the best diary/journaling app. With the 1-time buy of premium instead of a subscription model, and what it offers, it really shows the developers also care for more than just money. The only thing missing from this near-perfect package is an option for the theme of the app to automatically follow the system’s theme, switching between dark and light just as the phone does. That’s all.
