This app is absolutely ridiculous. It says I’m suddenly braking when I stop at a yellow light. I just drove home and didn’t touch my phone but it said I was using distractions while driving. Even when I go to the drive-thru and I’m stopped and try to pay with my phone it marks it as distracted driving. And I always have to go back in to switch rides to passenger. The app says it will learn my habits and do it automatically but it hasn’t smh. I’m convinced that the insurance companies use these apps to increase your premium because I’m a safe, defensive driver.
My way to work has a posted speed limit of 50mph the entire way, which I follow or go slightly under. The app warns me that I’m excessively speeding because they themselves list it as being 35mph. Not that it matters, they’ve never sent any information to my insurance company so I never got any discounts for having this terrible app anyway.
A few instances where the app doesn’t know wether the driver is actually distracted or not. For instance when your phone falls off the phone holder and the screen is unlocked because you’re using the GPS, your fingers will interact with the screen and set off the event mid catch. Or if the phone is unlocked playing music and someone texts you, and regardless if you react to the message or not, the app assumes you’re distracted. Would like to have these small things refined so I don’t have to claim passenger seat for these small instances. As long as I’m not sending out a message, or on a phone call, it shouldn’t be assumed that I’m distracted. The gps is to let me know of the speed limit because the speed limit fluctuates a lot where I live. I try my best to be the safest driver on the road because my PTSD is bad enough from deployment I don’t need car accidents to add to it or trigger me. Especially since insurance is expensive enough for the younger groups. Hopefully this catches someone’s eye, and can be proactive about tweaking the app to be more user friendly.
My brother was driving and I was on my phone and it registered an “event”. I was driving and my gf was on my phone and it registered an “event”. How is that distracted driving on my part?
