tested a bunch of apps and this ones lets you customize how the voice pronounces certain words or elements. Other readers will read bullet points as "oh" "small black square" "arrow" etc. but the ability to change it to not pronounce these makes this the only usable pdf speech tool for long bodies of work. Especially useful if you are in a niche field that uses certain abreviations or symbols. i can make § read as "section" for law. I can have it read "DGCL" as "Deleware general corporation law" etc.
Personally, I get eye strain after a few minutes of reading PDFs. I've used vBookz (another app) for years but the fastest it'd go was 250 wpm. This one goes up to 300 , which is more in line with my intended reading speed. My suggestion for a further release would be to be able to change out or to somehow add to the voice library ; while the Android voice library is OK, better voices are out there in the wild that are more natural sounding. That said, this is otherwise quite similar to VoiceDream on the Mobile [with the exception that VoiceDream does have many other voices]. It works nicely!
Great for education purpose and very fast app support. I use this software mainly on education purpose. As an ESL student who goes to professional school in the US, I needed extra help to read lots of textbooks. Initially, I used voice dream on my Mobile, but Mobile was never the same as my MacBookAir. Luckily, I found this app to alternate Voice dream. It made a lot easier to take note from lecture PDF file to Onenote. Especially, I can copy and paste the must know facts. I started to use this app to read books that are written in another language. The new update (1.7) works great for English books but have bugs for other languages. I sent an email to Jose John for this issue, and he responded quickly and offered me other solutions until the new update.
I love this tool -- I can read more with greater control using the array of shortcut keys.
